Bellevue Schools Foundation's Annual Phonathon on Target to Reach Fundraising Goal
Record amount expected, figure could reach $225,000

BELLEVUE, Wash., Nov. 8, 2004 -- Parents of Bellevue School District students pulled together to raise money for school programs for the Bellevue Schools Foundation's (BSF) 17th Annual Phonathon.

More than 200 parent volunteers worked the phones and mailed out pledge cards the nights of Oct. 25 - 27, calling on other parents to donate money to fund initiatives ranging from curriculum and student support services to teacher training and certification grants. Through this effort, BSF hopes to raise 20 percent of its 2005 budget to finance programs benefiting 15,700 students in the Bellevue School District.

"We'd like to thank our hundreds of volunteers for donating their time and energy to make this year's Phonathon a success," said Sherry Ladd, executive director of BSF. "Though we won't have a final count of the amount raised for a few more weeks, we're on track to beat last year's results of $204,000 to fund district-wide programs."

Individuals wishing to make a donation can still do so online at www.bsfdn.org/donate, or by calling BSF at 425.456.4199.

The Phonathon is an important part of BSF's funding, and is one of several initiatives that make it possible for BSF to achieve its mission of helping provide the best possible learning opportunities for all students in the Bellevue School District. The BSF works closely with schools and the district to identify, select and fund existing and new programs that benefit thousands of students every year.

About the Bellevue Schools Foundation (BSF)
A private, non-profit organization, the Bellevue Schools Foundation is a powerful partnership between the Bellevue School District, Parent-Teacher Associations, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, and business and community leaders. BSF was created in 1979 by a concerned group of parents and community leaders, who wanted to ensure quality education for Bellevue's children despite limited state funding for school districts. Its mission remains consistent: to promote and help fund the best possible learning opportunities for all students of Bellevue Public Schools. During its 25-year history, the BSF has raised over $9 million for programs that reach over 15,700 students every year.
