FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WHOLE FOODS MARKET'S COMMUNITY SUPPORT DAY
NETS BELLEVUE SCHOOLS FOUNDATION $6,500
BELLEVUE, Wash., July 3, 2006 -- Thanks to the many Eastsiders who shopped at the Bellevue Whole Foods Market
on June 14, the Bellevue Schools Foundation (BSF) is the recipient of $6,400 as part of Whole Foods Market's Community
Support Day.
Proceeds from this very successful day will help one of the many BSF funded programs, VIBES (Volunteers in Bellevue's
Education System), a highly successful, in-school volunteer mentoring program that supports students of all needs.
VIBES volunteers work with students one-on-one and also as classroom volunteers.
"A huge thank you to Whole Foods Market and members of our community for the tremendous support you've given us,"
said Sherry Ladd, executive director, Bellevue Schools Foundation.
The Bellevue Schools Foundation (BSF) provides funding for an array of programs that promote the best possible
learning opportunities for all students in the Bellevue School District, including district-wide academic initiatives,
training opportunities for teachers, and extra support for students when they need it.
About Whole Foods Market
Founded in 1980 as one small store in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market® is now the world's leading retailer of
natural and organic foods, with 184 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. On a local basis, we are actively
involved in our communities by supporting food banks, sponsoring neighborhood events, compensating our team members
for community service work, and contributing at least five percent of total net profits to not-for-profit
organizations.
About the Bellevue Schools Foundation (BSF)
The Bellevue Schools Foundation is a powerful partnership between business and community leaders, parents and members
of the education community. BSF was created in 1979 by a concerned group of parents and community leaders, who wanted
to ensure quality education for Bellevue's children despite unreliable state funding for public schools. Its mission
remains consistent: to promote and help fund the best possible learning opportunities for all students in the Bellevue
School District. During its 26-year history, the BSF has raised over $12 million for programs that reach over 16,000
students every year.
As a private, non-profit organization, the BSF depends on individual, foundation, and corporate donors in order to
fund its school programs. In partnership with the Bellevue School District, and the Parent-Teacher Associations, the
Bellevue Schools Foundation helps Bellevue's public school students achieve academic excellence.
